Upon satisfactory completion of a required probation period, employees may only be terminated for cause.
Executive Service Positions
These are positions that staff a significant policy role; require expert, unique, or specialized training or qualifications to which career service procedures do not apply or are not practical; or provide direct staff support to the offices of the modal administrators. Employees hired in executive service positions are selected based on their experience and other relevant qualifications for the position. Employees serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority.
These are positions whose conditions of employment and compensation are specified in a personal services contract. Employees hired for contractual positions are hired based on their qualifications. Contractual positions offer some paid leave and may offer partially subsidized state health benefits.
These are positions whose length of employment is for a specific period of time not to exceed 12 months or the limits established under a special employment program. Temporary positions offer some paid leave and may offer partially subsidized state health benefits. They serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority and receive only cash compensation.
Commission plan employees are appointed to positions comparable to private industry and serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority. The compensation method is based on accepted private sector practices to include a base salary plus commissions earned by achieving goals that relate to additional sales volume or enhanced net revenues.
