Know Before You Go this Winter Travel Season

It's that time of year for Maryland motorists to take the time to prepare for safe winter travel.

Make sure to prepare your vehicle (full gas tank, good tires, full fluids), pack an emergency kit (blankets, water, snacks, shovel, flashlight, first-aid), clear all snow/ice off your car for visibility, drive slowly, use headlights/wipers, and avoid travel during severe storms. Know Before You Go and check the Coordinated Highways Action Response Team (CHART) website for real-time updates.

Ports

The MDOT Port Administration (MPA) stimulates the flow of waterborne commerce through the ports in the State of Maryland in a manner that provides economic benefit to the citizens of the state.

Transit

The MDOT Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) operates Local Buses (CityLink and LocalLink), Commuter Buses, Light RailLink, Metro SubwayLink, Maryland Area Regional Commuter (MARC) Train Service, and a comprehensive Paratransit (MobilityLink) system. MTA also manages the Taxi Access system, and directs funding and statewide assistance to Locally Operated Transit Systems (LOTS) in each of Maryland's 23 counties, Baltimore City, Annapolis and Ocean City.
