Effective July 1, 2015 the definition of Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) will only encompass firms that are 51% owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals. This means the Office of MBE
will no longer certify Not-for-Profit Entities (NFPEs) defined at State Finance and Procurement Article (SFP) § 14-301 or the Community Rehabilitation Program Entities (CRPEs) accredited with the requirements described in SFP § 14-101(B). In addition, all MBE-certified NFPEs or MBE- certified CRPEs will be placed in a temporary
list of "Former MBE-Certified NFPE/CRPE Firms" that will expire on August 1, 2015. For more information regarding this change, please see
2013 House Bill 48 or call the
Maryland Department of Transportation, Office of Minority Business Enterprise, 410.865.1269.
