MDOT Urban Tree Grant Program

The MDOT Urban Tree Grant Program will begin accepting applications for fall 2025 planting projects on April 15. The application is available on the OneStop portal and can be found by searching “MDOT Urban Tree Grant Program” or by following this link. Applications will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

Funding up to $5,000 per project is available to support tree planting initiatives in urban communities that have lost trees to or been impacted by state transportation projects. Funding beyond $5,000 is available for pocket forest projects. To check if your planting location is within an urban area, please see DNR’s Underserved Areas Map.

Ports

The MDOT Port Administration (MPA) stimulates the flow of waterborne commerce through the ports in the State of Maryland in a manner that provides economic benefit to the citizens of the state.

Transit

The MDOT Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) operates Local Buses (CityLink and LocalLink), Commuter Buses, Light RailLink, Metro SubwayLink, Maryland Area Regional Commuter (MARC) Train Service, and a comprehensive Paratransit (MobilityLink) system. MTA also manages the Taxi Access system, and directs funding and statewide assistance to Locally Operated Transit Systems (LOTS) in each of Maryland's 23 counties, Baltimore City, Annapolis and Ocean City.

Aviation

The MDOT Maryland Aviation Administration (MAA) is the owner and operator of Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) and Martin State Airport.

Toll Facilities

The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) is responsible for constructing, managing, operating and improving the State's toll facilities, as well as for financing new revenue producing transportation projects.

Highways

The MDOT State Highway Administration (SHA) provides a safe, well-maintained, reliable highway system that enables mobility choices for all customers and supports Maryland's communities, economy and environment.

Drivers

MDOT's Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) provides Maryland driver and vehicle services such as driver license renewal, change of address, vehicle registration, driving records, product tracking, and more.
