The Glen Burnie Branch is located at 6601 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie. Customer participation is free and anonymous.“We are encouraging customers visiting our Glen Burnie branch this Saturday to responsibly dispose unneeded medication in a manner that keeps our families and communities safe and healthy," said MVA Administrator Chrissy Nizer. Every year on National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, the MVA collects an average of ten pounds of medications to be disposed properly. The national event is part of the Drug Enforcement Administration's efforts to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription and over the counter drugs, while also educating the public about the potential for abuse of medications.Unwanted medications should be properly disposed of and NOT be flushed down in the toilet or simply thrown in the trash as they can be retrieved, abused, illegally sold or contaminate public water supplies.Beyond National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, there are other opportunities to regularly and safely dispose of unneeded medications at pharmacies, hospitals, police departments and businesses. All state police barracks are equipped with secure drug collection boxes that are available 24/7.
