Opportunity for Communities to Provide Input on Improving Driving Behaviors on Maryland Roads

GLEN BURNIE, MD (February 3, 2025)—The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration's (MVA) Highway Safety Office will host four public meetings to gather feedback on driving behaviors that negatively impact residents. As Maryland develops the 2026 – 2030 Strategic Highway Safety Plan, this input will help address communities' unique needs, identify local traffic safety issues and prioritize concerns specific to different regions.

The meetings will be held in-person with a hybrid format and online options also available. The four locations were strategically selected throughout the state to encourage in-person participation. Each session will be led by the MVA Highway Safety Office and Crash CORE, a research and education group focused on crashes and injury prevention. Topics of discussion will include impaired driving, distracted driving, speeding, occupant protection and safely sharing the road with pedestrians and bicyclists.

These meetings will also focus specifically on behavioral factors that influence how drivers interact with their environment and strategies to encourage safer driving habits. While discussions about traffic infrastructure are welcomed, the primary goal is to explore how drivers' actions on the road can be improved to enhance safety.
