WHY:             This is the fourth year for the annual school supply drive. It was held June 24 – July 12 and invited MDOT and MSDE employees and the public to donate items to benefit students through Boys & Girls Clubs across the state. All MDOT agencies participated, and public collection sites were established at Motor Vehicle Administration branches, Maryland Transportation Authority customer service centers, State Highway Administration offices and the Maryland Department of Transportation headquarters, among others. Additionally, MSDE conducted an internal drive among the agency's thousands of employees statewide, and the Boys & Girls Clubs in Maryland provided a website where monetary donations could be made. The Boys & Girls Clubs in Maryland received almost $3,000 in donations that were used to complete the kits that were then distributed to Clubs across the state. New this year: those wanting to participate could purchase school supply kits on Amazon that were sent directly to the campaign.
