HANOVER, MD – In accordance with Governor Larry Hogan's direction to promote social distancing to help limit the spread of COVID-19, the Maryland Department of Transportation's (MDOT) Office of Small and Minority Business Policy will host its next certification workshop, scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2020, via an online webinar.

As part of the Hogan Administration's “Maryland is Open for Business" initiative, the Office of Small and Minority Business Policy hosts free Application Assistance Workshops for firms considering certification as a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE), Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) and/or Small Business Enterprise (SBE). The workshops cover the entire application and investigation process, core eligibility standards and the benefits of the certification.

The April webinar is an example of how MDOT and Maryland remain open for business, even as agencies respond to Governor Hogan's directives for social distancing and curtailed public interaction during the COVID-19 emergency. The webinar will help prepare small and minority businesses for opportunities as Maryland's economy comes back from the COVID-19 outbreak.

Registration for the April webinar workshop is open through the event date, and is accessible at https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/2606503769936826380. Early registration is encouraged. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.

MDOT is the official certification agency for the State of Maryland. Firms meeting the standards set forth in state and federal law are eligible for MBE, DBE, ACDBE, and/or SBE certification. MDOT's comprehensive certification process ensures that bona fide disadvantaged or minority-owned firms receive the MBE, DBE, ACDBE, and/or SBE designation in support of the state's minority business inclusion efforts.
