ZEEVIC Wins Award

2019 GWRCCC Visionary Award

MDOT and ZEEVIC Demonstrate Leadership and, “Establish a Very High Bar for Other States to Emulate"

The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the Zero Emission Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Council (ZEEVIC) were honored by the Greater Washington Region Clean Cities Coalition (GWRCCC) during their 2019 Awards Luncheon on August 28th with a Visionary Award.

The award was presented in recognition of our steadfast efforts to remove barriers to the early adoption of zero emission and electric vehicles.  The GWRCCC celebrated the results we have achieved through our high level of commitment, leadership, and innovation.

We are grateful to the GWCCC and to our ZEEVIC members for their dedication and perseverance as we continue our work to promote and facilitate the successful integration of ZEVs into Maryland's transportation network. We are also appreciative of the continued support and encouragement we receive from Governor Larry Hogan and MDOT Secretary James Ports.

About ZEEVIC

In July 2019, Maryland House Bill 1246 expanded the membership, responsibilities, and reporting requirements of the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Council (EVIC) to include zero emission vehicles (ZEVs) and fuel cell electric vehicles. To reflect the expanded responsibilities of the council, EVIC was renamed the Maryland Zero Emission Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Council (ZEEVIC).

The ZEEVIC is charged with the development of policies, recommendations, and incentives that increase awareness of ZEVs, support the ownership of ZEVs, and promote investment by the private sector in ZEVs; the development of recommendations for a statewide EV charging and hydrogen refueling infrastructure plan; and the development of other potential policies to promote and facilitate the successful integration of ZEVs into Maryland's transportation network.
